Workshop 1
Based on: Celebrating Families Program
Celebrating families is a successful, evidence based 16 week curriculum that addresses the needs of children and parents, in families that have serious problems with alcohol and drugs. The curriculum engages every member of the family, ages three through adult, to foster the development of healthy and addiction-free individuals. Each session begins with a family meal. Afterwards, family members break into age appropriate groups. At the end of each session, all family members re-connect in activities to learn how to apply these new skills and interact in healthy ways.
Workshop 2
Based on: Living Values Curriculum
An educational program developed by Diane Tillman and Dianna Hsu. The program offers a variety of experiential activities and practical methodologies to help children explore and develop 12 personal and social values: Peace, Respect, Love, Responsibility, Happiness, Cooperation, Honesty, Humility, Tolerance, Simplicity, and Unity. The Program encourages children to express themselves while experiencing the values of focus. Game-like activities are though-provoking and fun. The discussion time that follows these activities stimulate awareness of personal and social justice. The development of self-esteem and tolerance continues throughout the exercises.
Workshop 3
Based on: MindUp Curriculum
An evidence-based curriculum developed by Goldie Hawn and The Hawn Foundation. The curriculum offers lessons that create social and emotional awareness, increases psychological well-being, and enhances academic success. The curriculum enables each child to develop mindful attention to ones self and to others. It creates tolerance to diversity and enables each child to grow into a healthy human being and learner. The Curriculum teaches children about the brain and how it functions. It allows each child to gain insight into their mind and behaviors, which enables them to better interact with others. It helps create self-regulation of their behaviors.
